Let’s Learn Together
Let’s Learn, Unlearn + Grow Together
“What if healing isn't just about changing ourselves, but also questioning the systems, expectations, and generational patterns we've been taught to accept?”
I’m Adrianna (Rodriguez) Kaufmann (TX#89644), LPC, a licensed therapist, private practice owner, systems-challenger, and fellow cyclebreaker. I’m passionate about creating space for the conversations we’re often taught to avoid—conversations about collective trauma, cultural expectations, generational patterns, and the systems of oppression that shape our lives. My work is rooted in a commitment to liberation, both within the therapy room and in the broader community. Over the past decade, I’ve worked across a range of settings, including residential group homes, crisis response for survivors of domestic and sexual violence, child welfare legal casework, school counseling, nonprofit leadership, and international community service as a Peace Corps volunteer. Moving between these micro and macro settings gave me a broader understanding of how our experiences are shaped not only by our families and relationships, but also by the institutions, policies, and power structures that influence our choices, opportunities, and sense of autonomy.
I saw this firsthand as a legal caseworker with Child Protective Services, where the intersection of family, law, and child welfare brought complex questions of power, safety, and systemic intervention into focus. Later, through my training as a crisis responder and with After Violence Project, I witnessed another dimension of how the legal system reaches far beyond the courtroom, affecting families’ relationships, grief, autonomy, and ability to navigate life. These experiences deepened my understanding that individual and family struggles cannot be separated from the larger systems in which they unfold. They also left me asking bigger questions: What does healing look like when the systems around us contribute to the harm? How do we begin to unlearn what we’ve inherited while navigating the cultural, familial, and societal expectations that continue to shape us? And how can we create something different for ourselves and the generations that follow?
I didn’t find a magic cure or a simple formula for change. What I did come to understand is that healing doesn't happen in isolation. Healing happens in community. It happens when we have space to question what we've been taught, reconnect with ourselves, feel supported in our experiences, and imagine new ways of living and relating.
As a therapist and social justice advocate, I believe in the power of collective reflection and understand any learning and unlearning is done best in community where curiosity is allowed growth. I help guide professionals, family and community members through liberation-oriented and trauma-informed practice. I am committed to creating spaces that invoke curiosity, empathy and action for intergenerational change.
